your premiss that he is only capible of one job is wrong. ball isnt all he knows, he has a college degree. I have trained people for years who have never worked in my feid and the are all successful. ball is all he know is a piss poor excuse for some one and a sad thought that a person is capible of one thing their entire lives. I too feel people need a second chance, however he knew what he was doing was wrong and dont give me he was raised that this is okay. hes human being cruel to another creature is wrong and you dnt have to be taught that, just like you dont have to be taught molesting children is wrong. there are some things you cant come back from and this would be on of them. nothing has happened to him. yes he went to prison for a tiny amount of time. for what he did the punishent did not fit the crime. he should have gotten way worse.

Well she is already fantastic! If I take her on an extended walk she rests for a minute and then she wants to run like crazy and play with her plush toy. She uses her bed now, she suddenly started jumping  in the bed with me last week. I couldn’t figure it out until one night she tried to sneak in the bed about 2am. As much as a pit can sneak! LOL she curled up on my arm and shoulder and put her head on my throat, ( a little hard to sleep like that), and she was shivering. At first I was just barely awake and thought ugh I don’t want to get out of bed who cares if she is in bed with me. Then I thought no I can’t set a pattern. I realized she was cold so I moved her bed so that it was between the wall and my bed where the floor fan couldn’t blow on her. Its also in a spot where she can see me easier and I think she likes that as well. I told her to get down and she went right to the bed. I got a cover and put it on her. Now when it is time to go to bed at night or take a nap she goes right to her bed I don’t have to tell her to do it. She still licks though LOL

I grew up with Chows, we had a lot of them over the years never more than 2 at a time. They are also supposed to be vicious dogs… but we never had an issue. I tell you I lucked out with Layla. She is so well behaved, so well mannered, so obedient, so docile, and so loving. She has a jumping issue with new people and she likes to flee people a bit too much but I will take that. =) Pits are very beautiful and I think you will do well in getting one, especially given the fact that you are saving a life. It’s a shame your shelter doesn’t test their personality, they would probably adopt more dogs if they did that.

Other loud noises dont bother her. I know many dogs that are scared of vacuums or lawn mowers getting close to them. She is fine with both. I am going to take her to the warm up to see how she fairs then. HOPEFULLY she will be fine. =) She is such a good girl i really lucked out with her!

I think you are right as to the reason the dog bit your husband. Talk with animal control to get the pit back. What are the neighbors doing?

I agree. Any breed has the potential to be aggressive. Here is something to think about. Most of the videos of the dog fighting rings they have to torture, beat, and starve them to get them to be that agressive. If it was truely in their nature they wouldnt have to be brutalized to get them to that level. Also Michael Vic’s “vicious” pits are now therapy dogs, (the ones that survived that is), if they were so horrible they wouldnt be able to be rehabilitated so easily.

My girl, as you know, is scared of the slightest bit of rain, dim lightening, and quiet thunder. I think fire works will scare her. This is problematic as my neighborhood has a very larger block party on the fourth with lots of big fire works and even cannons. I dont know how she will do… we do a pre fourth warm up and  I will get to test it then. I’ll let you know. Camp fires are no big deal to her though…

No you are fine. This is part of what they are. They have terrier in them. If you were walking a rat terrier it would do the exact same thing. Its in their genes to go after small creatures. Terriers were bred for this job and it is part of your pit as well. Also they arent vampires they arent going to taste blood then suddenly want to go kill everything in site. LOL =) My pit does the same i just hold her leash tight and keep walking and she forgets about them.

I guess I have been lucky. Most people in my neighborhood say how pretty she is. Several have walked up to pet her and say how sweet and loving she is. I will move to the other side of the road when if I see that I am on the same side as some one walking towards me. She barely acknowledges them if we are on the other side of the road when they pass which I think makes them more calm toward her since she shows no aggression…. Even when their dog is being aggressive to her.

How old is she? If she is still a puppy that could have something to do with it. What is the biting like? Is it full mouth or very fast little nips with her front teeth?
