    Thanks,

I am not sure why she would need the crate and rotate method though, she loves the dog she lives with and in 2 years they have never had any trouble and spend a lot of time sleeping together. I walk her daily and have tried crating her with treats and it worked for getting her to use her dog house outside but she just doesn’t want anything to do with a crate, she bends the metal crates to breaking point and pulls anything she can into the crate to chew on despite the toys available in her crate. She doesn’t love balls unless they give out food (she is VERY food motivated) but I will try it because I am open to anything.

    Hi,

You gave me some great advice about making eye contact when trying to teach stay, which is working well.

I was hoping you would have some ideas about how to keep my pit, Jeune from being so bored all day. I put her outside in the morning which I usually have to put her on a leash to do or I would be dragging her through the house and from under beds (she is a chewer so has to be outside.) What has worked for me is her puzzle ball which lets out food but it only lasts about 30min and her favourite is when I hide treats in the yard; when I do this she doesn’t even come to the fence to watch me leave. I have a flirt pole on order as I think she will enjoy that good work out in the morning but she doesn’t like to play with chew toys alone only with someone or another dog. Oh, she does love to knock over her water bowl EVERYDAY and move it from one side of the yard to the other. I have tried really heavy ceramic planters full of water etc but she just breaks them eventually and if they don’t break she chews them up; however she never does this in front of anyone. I just don’t know what to do. I want her to be okay with being outside, even when I am home (if I am home and put her out most of the time she sits at the door and waits for me to let her in.) She loves the dogs next door but I don’t know if it is safe for them to be left alone together unattended all day (they are a lap mix puppy and an english mastiff.)

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! I am ordering one now! She is going to love it I can tell, she loves to chase squirrels. You wouldn’t happen to know of any way to keep a dog from turning up the water bowl to play with it leaving NO water around for drinking on hot days?

Try changing your mind set, it is not an option for her to go inside it is a command she must follow. Don’t think about it, then she will stop and pull or lie down just do it. I also adopted my pit and the more they relax around you and trust you the more their personality comes out. Mine wouldn’t like most dogs go near the door to the Vet, now I just walk and she follows, I tell myself in my head with some attitude that there just isn’t any option and sure enough it works.
Also having some patience and setting her boundaries, she will love you for it, they love boundries and having a reliable routine that you follow, it makes them soooo happy.

I don’t have one but am dying to get one, I would like to make it but can’t find any really good instructions or directions to a place where I can buy a good enough quality whip that won’t be pulled apart after a couple of plays. Where did you get yours? It seems like a wonderful solution to boredom and getting out excess energy.
