We offer the full round-up of what we think are the best dry dog foods, and Taste of the Wild makes the list as a great affordable option, at compared to the price of the others.
In reviewing dog food, we always use the criteria laid out here.
The notable ingredients are: chicken, turkey, chicken meal, ocean fish meal, cracked pearled barley,
whole grain brown rice, oatmeal, millet, white rice, and chicken fat
(preserved with mixed tocopherols). Minor ingredients include potatoes,
egg product, tomato pomace, duck, salmon, flaxseed, various fruits and
veggies, kelp, probiotics, prebiotics, and the usual vitamin and mineral
supplements. This food is 24% protein and 14% fat with an omega-6 to
omega-3 fatty acid ratio of 5.5:1.
While we recommend grainless dog food when at all possible, that can put a strain on the wallet, and Taste of the Wild is a good runner-up since they also use human-grade ingredients, and don’t preserve their fish with ethoxyquin.
They make an excellent large breed adult formula and a good large breed puppy formula.
Finding food for our Bobo was
Finding food for our Bobo was very difficult, he has always been picky with his food but when we found out he had allergies to wheat, corn, animal by products etc. the dog food options were cut in half. He was on Blue Buffalo for a while but while I was taking my dog CPR class my instructor mentioned Chicken soup, it took me a few months to actually give it a try but the second Bobo tried it he ate the whole bowl in one sitting, where usually he will smell it show no interest and pick at his food.(which was getting him on a potty scheduled very difficult) Now with this food it is extremely good for him, he loves it and its improving his potty training. We also have out 8 week old on chicken soup for puppies. They both can’t get enough of it. I recommend this for any one. And its very affordable!
