Hey the all caps lock is a little intense. It sounds like your yelling. But about the content of your post, thats an amazing story. Thank God you found him! That’s truly a miracle. Sounds like you have an interesting website as well. I don’t know what I would do if that happened to my dog, I would be beyond relieved to find him, but upset that he had to endure all that. Jeez, what’s wrong with people?

I rescued my dog’s mom who was a bait dog. That’s what happens to pit bulls who don’t want to fight, if they aren’t killed. There’s alot of dog fighting here and I’ve seen some horrible things. Dogs are carnivores. Because of this they often chase and kill small animals. Your dog behavior genetic in the sense that dogs are carnivores, but not because of breed. That’s not to say that some breeds have a higher prey drive than others, but any dog will want to chase other animals under the right circumstances. Bait animals for pit bulls include anything people can find running around. Cats, chickens, possums, other dogs, pigeons, kittens, rabbits, rats, squirrels, puppies, raccoons, foxes, anything that’s alive. Sounds like your dog is being a dog and your doing what you can to keep everything under control 🙂 kudos to your pet store for being understanding as well!

I have many wonderful experiences with my dog Riley. Lately, I have noticed pet pitbulls everywhere around here! Last time we went to the dog park, there were 6 other pit bulls there 🙂 We had a great time. It makes me feel good seeing so many amazing dogs around. I take Riley everywhere, and I have never had any real judgement issues from other people. Occasionally, elderly people will be wary, but I love old people and it’s never a big deal. Having a dog is a wonderful experience 🙂

@ringotherednose, If I were in your position, I would bring a flip camera or other video recording device with you next time you go on a walk and start recording as soon as you see the guy coming. You don’t have to talk to him or make a big deal about pointing the camera at him, just have it out and casually begin recording your walk when you see him coming. I’d think that would deter him, and if not, you have everything on camera next time you have to phone the police. Clearly this guy isn’t a thinker. I say that not only because of his clear lack of knowledge about pit bull terriers, but also because if he really believed your dog was a threat, why would he want to risk the safety of his own dogs or possibly himself to prove it?

Hope this helps, and best wishes for good experiences with your dog in the future 🙂

Thats really good of you 🙂 how could someone think of doing such a thing? I was actually asking about pitmasters profile pic haha. I think they might have gotten two pictures mixed up because that is definitely a female dog in the image! Anyways, I was just wondering if they could post a picture of the male dog they mentioned, he sounds cute!

Hello pitmaster, I was just wondering if your profile picture is the image you were saying was of a male dog, because it has female anatomy. I think maybe your pics got mixed up! Haha. She is beautiful, but I was just wondering if you have a picture of the male dog you were talking about. The female is so cute, I would love to see a pic of the male you mentioned!  🙂 Also, has this female had a litter before? if so, did the pups turn out bulky like she is? Just wondering 🙂 Also, you said you had owned over 300 kinds of dogs? wow! Do you run an animal rescue? If so, does your rescue have a website? I’d like to check it out! I help stray animals too (cant help it!) but I have not come close to 300. Were many of them pits?

I live in the city now, but the dogs still live on the farm with my friends who live there. I have one dog here in the city, and when I go to visit the farm, he just loves to run and play with the other dogs! We also go to the dog park which he really likes. I wish he could spend more time outside like the dogs on the farm, but that’s just not possible now that I live in a city. I take him for walks often and play with him. It sounds like your dog has a great life! His picture is so cute 🙂

I lived on a farm for a while and our dogs ran around the property all day, just doing what dogs do. They could come in if they wanted to, but mostly they liked to run and play outside. Several of them were pits. At night, they came indoors. It’s ok to let your dogs run around alone if you live in the right area (lots of space, not many people around). In that situation, you don’t have to watch your dogs like children, but if you want them to be more attached to you, do some activities with them, like go for walks together, or play fetch, or keep them indoors longer. Our farm dogs were friendly, healthy, strong, affectionate, and loving. They ate well and played all day, just like dogs should. Good luck!

Has your dog had a litter before? I was just wondering because her underbelly looks like she might have. If so were the pups as muscular as she is? She looks awesome! My dog Riley is a pit bull german shepherd mix so he isn’t too stocky. I think he might fill out more though, he’s only 8 Months old.  I remember when we had to take care of a mom and litter, what a responsibility! If you get a new dog would you get a male or female? 🙂

It would be awesome having a toy poodle and a pit mix! I bet they would be great friends. Welcome to the site!

    Hey!

So I have dealt with this before,  and my dog did begin to pick up the habits of the other dog. My dog was like, hey! look at that! that dog can do this and that and doesn’t have to listen to Grace, maybe I dont either! And so it began. The only way to stop it was to trian the other dog. It was a chore because the dog was sort of old and I had just finished with my dog’s training, and the thought of going through that process again was very undesirable. After I began working though, it wasn’t so bad. I think unfortunately thats just how it is. Dogs copy other dogs. You just have to train the other dog or else Alice will learn the negative behaviors. I know thats not what you wanted to hear, but I’m just being honest based on my experience. Actually, after I got going with the other dogs training, it was kind of fun to watch her progress. It took some effort, but it was worth it. She was pretty smart! You can do it! I hope this helps you, it’s tough to imagine having to train another dog, but once you get going it can be rewarding. I also think Cesar Milan might have some good resounces about training older dogs as well. Good luck! I hope everything goes well:)

p.s. Alice is as adorable as she ever was

If you are willing to get rid of that price I can help you. I can take them and find them homes, but the price has to go. I have rescued and adopted out many animals before.I really love animals, I want to help, but that amount of $$ for two dogs someone dropped off is too much. Don’t put them to sleep! if it comes to that, save your self the vet trip and $$ and let me help you. Just comment on my dog’s page. (click on my name, Yaminpix) Good luck!
