mine was the same way at first…Exercise was the key for her…wear them out so they aren’t as hyper and they’ll focus more.

Now at 1 year old my Nina knows:Sit, Lay Down, Roll Over, Shake, High Five, and my favorite…Play Dead…we say “Bang” and she rolls over on her back and will stay that way anywhere between 5-30 seconds depending on the hyper level that day.

    It’s just a process

My Nina used to chew on and DRAG a panel of wooden fence around our backyard for HOURS…we were worried about her chewing a hole in the fence itself so we tryed a Kong and it has helped a TON…we break her dog treats into 1/4’s and then put the peices along with peanut butter in the kong and it keeps her busy for quite a while 🙂

Like Amber said, placing a blanket over the crate REALLY helps…also one thing that also helped with my pit (just turned 1 on 11/6) is having a good thick dog pillow. we originally had one of the ones that have a lip on them but she chewed on that so we just got her one of the oversized dog pillows as a bed to encourage her not to mess in the kennel…

Also, like you said about having no problem with it after she was at doggie daycare…exercising her good before bedtime will do WONDERS…we take Nina on a mile walk every night when we get home form work and her hyper level has dropped signifiacantly which makes it easier to get her to go to bed

our pit actually changed the veiwpoint our landlord had on pits because once she saw how well behaved our nina was & that she was crate trained she had no issue with her being a pit.

i love when ppl try to say that small dogs aren’t safe around pitbulls cus then i just whip out my picture of my Pit Nina (65 lbs) and my Toy Chihuahua Sophie (4 lbs) cuddling up on the couch together or playing outside and it usually shuts them up…
