To take your dog to a dog park you n ot only have to know your dog but the other dogs as well and thier owners and the park itself. There ARE SEVERAL parks in my area and the one I would never take my dogs there. It is known to be populated with irresponsible owners. Another one is basically empty all the time and I will go there with my pack but leave when someone I dont know comes. I prefer to take long walks with them. It seems to tire them out a lot better.

AS a dog groomer forget the sentry shampoo. first if they are on the dog they are in your house! So you have to treat the dog and house at the same time. Your vet will have a spot on treatment that you can use on your pup. It will cost more than what you can buy in the store but it will work and be safe for him. Before using the spot on I would suggest taking him to a good grooming salon for a bath while you treat the house with a good flea product that not only kills fleas but their eggs too. Too many flea baths are not good they can dry the coat out and he will itch anywaY, HOPE THIS HELPS.

When you place a pit pup first thing before you even let someone l;ook nat the npups is to nget a vet reference. most vets will be more than willing to tell you if they took care of their previous pets. second call all your local shelters. they have a list of people they wont adopt to. Then if you still arent sure about the person tell them you have some pups on hold but if they want to look you can call them if the person doesnt want it. this way you have an out if you dont want to give them a dog. Never just tell the person you wont give them a dog, theyll just have someone else call and get it for them. If they have another pit have them bring the dog with them when they come. the way their dog looks and behaves will tell you a lot about the owner. wishing you lots of luck. there are a lot of good people who love pits.

I have 6 pits and I will admit it is a lot of work but well worth every minute of it. They all get along, I feed all of them together but only when I’m there. Occasionally there will be a little growl but all I have to do is say hey in that voice that they know to quit. I work 8 hours a day so I need my babies to be very tired when I leave. Walks and playing catch with them in the yard works very well. And by walks I mean an hour long walk. I walk 2 at a time now and am about to try 3. eventually I intend to be able to walk all of them togehter. I work at Petsmart as a groomer so my dogs visit there a lot. Socialing is the most important thing you can do for your dog. Dog aggression should never be allowed. A little can turn into a lot then you have a problem.

As a dog groomer my first question would be what kind of food are you feeding. Most skin problems are related to diet or allergies.

I have 6 pits and I feed them Purina Pro plan. They have an awesome rebate program that helps me with the cost and I like the fact that all their ingredients are made in the USA> My dogs have all done really well on this food.

I would try a training class together. that way they are in a controled environment and you can work with the trainer to address the issues they are having with one another. Exercise also helps a tired pit is a good pit. If you have someone else that can help you take the 2 of them for walks together. dont give them time to get aggressive just walk at a fast pace so they get used to each other but you have to do this on a regular basis and eventually with some work you can have 2 dogs that get along. I have 6 and I’ve hhad some problems but I never let it get to the point that they actually start fighting. If you watch myou can pick up signals from them and prevent stuff before it happens. but a calm assertive approach is needed. If you are nervous and fearful they will pick up on it.

Hi I’m Janice and I have my own little pack of Pits: 6 to be exact. They are the most wonderful dogs and so very well behaved. I have totally fallen in love with the breed since I rescued my first one 13 years ago.
