congrats to your newest addition!  I had a pit mix who I brought into my family when he was about 6 weeks old. we found out we were the 3rd “owner” for him and couldn’t ever figure out how he survived being taken away from his mom so young.   But we showed him nothing but love and he ended up having horrible seperation anxiety as well. i couldn’t even crate him because I would come home after an hour or 2 and his snout and paws would be bloody from him trying to escape. he is going on 2 now, and just a few months ago he started getting over the anxiety.  i have heard a few ppl say some out grow it, but some say training will help them get over it

my boy Bruzer (pit lab mix though) is about 55 lbs and will be turning 2 in December.  My baby BJ just turned 4 months a few days ago and already weighs 39 lbs.  they say to get a rough guess of the dogs weight fully grown take their weight at 16 weeks and mulitply it by 2.  with Bruzer it wa wrong, he ended up weighing a little bit more, not sure how big BJ will end up….

well it has now been 11 days since getting BJ.  he has tuurned into such a good boy, just started really playing and running and “smiling”. he now knows verbal and hand commands after a few short days of working with him.  he is well behaved and I couldn’t ask for a better pup 🙂

I have heard that you should make your dog sit and wait, after the door bell has rung or the knock on the door happens and she starts getting excited make her sit or lay down and tell her to wait. Then you go to the door and greet your guest, BUT if she gets up to follow you to the door do not open it, make her sit/lay and start over. It may take a while, and you may want to warn your guest that it could take a while, but once she stays, and you welcome in your guest, tell her to greet and hopefully she won’t jump up!! If she does jump start ALL over again!! It can take time so get a friend who understands and is willing to help!

I have tried the olive oil without much improvement, and am now starting him on some supplements for the skin (fish oil type things). It also didn’t help that I found my neighbors flea ridden cat in my house leaving behind fleas. He is just getting balder in the same spot. My friend, a groomer, says try pills to get rid of fleas, that the topical ones are less effective. So we will be trying that too.

I thought so as well. But the first food he was on was Wellness, suposed to be good for dogs with allergies or so I thought, so someone said try pedigree, even though its cheap its ok. So we tried that with canned too. Then vomitting started and he ate rice and chicken for a few days (and of course kept it down) and then went onto rice with the pedigree, now just plain dry pedigree. BUT I feel horrible!!!! I don’t like him being on Pedigree, feel kind of bad!! and I think he has potential to be a much bigger dog, but his growth is limited due to his food intake, Ive been to 2 vets who give 2 totally differnet answers. Im going to try Iam’s next, I heard they have a sensitive stomach formula? anyone heard of it?

After his accidents in the crate what are you using to clean it up? Normal household cleaner will “kill” the smell for us humans, but he may still be smelling it and thinking he can do it again? They makke the special cleaners that break down the urine enzymes and smell at his level. My dog kept urinating in the middle of the night on my living room floor until I scrubbed the heck out of the WHOLE downstairs. No accidents since……

I feed my pit bull Wellness puppy food, its all natural holistic goodness!!!! he has food allergies so this seems to work well for him, and it isn’t too expensive!!!
