yea exactly….the dog is only as good as the owner. and the things about pit bulls no matter how bad there past was, they will bounce back and have potential to be loving and caring. Its amazing that a dog can do that and not humans. thats why my favorite show is pit bulls and parolees because she always believes in second chances and for everyone and everything. So why can’t people give these dogs or any dogs a second chance. they all have the same chance to fight, the pit bulls unfortunately had stupid owners that thought itd be fun to fight them and now there genetics hold this bad gene! that makes me so made how stupid humans can be, and how smart the dogs are.

I’d say fight it!!!!!! 😀 thats the best way to go about it! I know it’d be hard, but research would be your best friend in this situation. Check the internet and ask people, and work on persuading people about pit bulls. Then go to court and fight…:D Personally I believe that there should be a law for all breeds, such that they have to be a good citizen, if not then something should happen too the dog. Also I think whoever owns a dog should have to go to obedience classes and have to pass. There are sooooo many bad dogs that aren’t even pit bulls. It’s annoying how pit bulls are the only ones effected. :- But yea I would definitely say fight it! That is wrong what you have to put up with!

I don’t own a pit bull but I have worked with pit bulls at my local humane society so I have a small amount of experience. One thing I can say is it is not just pit bulls that need to be shown whos boss…a lot of dogs do! My sister has 2 chihuahuas and a boston terrier and her chihuahuas act like they rule the place, they never listen to her…and they hate people, and animals. But anyways, the pitbull, if you work with them such as training and play with them and let them know that they can’t get away with stuff they’d be a good dog. But like any dog you can’t let them get away with anything esp after you trained them a certain way. Keep with some sort of routine and keep training them, even if it’s just a simple sit at least once a day (even if they know it). Dont train them too long 😀 These are just tips and an idea for if you decide to get a pit bull. Do some research too, to find out more about the Pit Bull.

Thats one of the better webistes to find more about them.

Awww…both of your stories make me sad 🙁 I’m sorry that the UK will not let you have pit bulls. I actually just saw dogs 101 on pit bulls and they said that. Best part is Pit Bulls were started in the UK,Ireland, and Scotland. It’s a sad day when people have to discriminate against everything that they fear! By boyfriend last summer almost got his cheek ripped off by an Australian Shepherd! That was scary. Luckily in Wisconsin, there aren’t too many pit bull laws, and where I go to college I have seen a couple of pit bulls, they are always excited to see people. Everything I read about the pit bull is they LOVE humans and if they show any aggression they should be put down.

Oh…and houch105 that is really sad that because one person got bit by a pit bull, and the vet didn’t know anything about them, he decided to ban them. I know its hard when someone gets bit, but there is no need to ban that dog. I know pit bulls have strong bite, but its the owners fault. I really wish there was a way I could help both of you to get the bans off these dogs! If you’d like I could ask how one of the employees at the humane society got the ban off pit bulls where I live? Sorry this is kind of long…but let me know if you want me to check into that 😀 It might take awhile to get the info, but I would love to help!

Aww Beastley sounds so amazing. And yes I know pits live a pretty long time. Im willing to make that commitment. I love dogs! 😀 Im excited though now, I applied at my humane society, and they have a young pit bull named meekah. Shes adorable! The pics I saw of her didnt do her justice. I really hope I will be able to work with her, I would really like to get some experience in with a pit bull. 😀

awesome thanks! that makes me happy to hear. I was just worried that if I got one it would get too bored sitting around all day and would get too hyper later. I am hoping to get a job close to where ever I live so I can take my dog out at lunch. Thats when Im done with college, and actually find a job if I do, and if I can get a pit bull. lol Im keeping my fingers crossed. I like the energetic part of the pit bull. I LOVE playing with dogs, and I am also hoping that if I get one they will keep me motivated enough to keep up with daily exercise. Do you keep your dogs on a kind of schedule? I heard that is the best thing to do with any dog.

Yeah I was thinking about volunteering at my humane society. I know that they have a pitbull and some other dogs. I figured that would be the best way to figure out if I would be a good pitty owner. I think I might do that. So thank you! 😀 And Taana that is a sad story! Why do people get a dog if they can’t keep them? 🙁 And that’s fine that you were rambling. I asked questions, and I am glad you answered them. I like to get different peoples opinions. Esp on pitbulls. And besides all that info was just what I was looking for. 😀 I like this website I get a lot of good ideas and info. And I will definately let everyone know if and when I get a pitbull. I checked out the website and pics, and awww your dog Beastly…I hope I spelled that right…and that website is awesome.

I do have another question though…well kind of…If I get a pit bull is that my only concern is that I would be working full time (once Im done with college), and my boyfriend too. Does anyone else deal with a full time job and their pit bulls (and thats with no one home)? If so what do you do? Or would that even be wise to get a pit bull with their high energy, and me having a full time job? I really hope that made sense. But if I could get ideas of what you guys do that’d be great.

Well I think anyone who is considering ANY dog should do research. You cant just go get a dog and expect it to act how you want. dogs cant read minds. All dogs are different and I want to find the right dog and one that will be good for me and my lifestyle. I will keep doing my research and and hoping to get more peoples stories on here about them and their pit bulls.

Thanks for the advice. And yes I definitely plan on adopting. I would still try and get a puppy and if it goes good from there maybe Id adopt another pitty. And yeah my only real problem is the insurance. But I keep doing my research cause I don’t want to be another irresponsible owner. And I want to make sure that this is the right dog for me and that I can 100% handle it. And yes socialize socialize socialize!!! 😀 That would be one of my biggest priorities. If I get a pitbull I will definitely be asking more questions esp tips and tricks. And thanks for the websites I will have to check them out.

I agree with the tail wagging thing. When it wags it usually means that they are happy. I’ve seen people that have pit bulls and they are always soooo well behaved and are always playful. And coming on this form and listen to other people and their stories really makes me want one more! But thanks 😀 I will definitely let you know if I get one! I hope. Just depends on if where I live lets me.

Thanks! And thats sad about people! Today, people rely on too much media! I hope people know that now a days there are actually good things that happen in this world and not just bad. Cause last summer I even got to watch my boyfriend get bit by an Australlian Sheperd. If you do find out about the insurance I would love too know if you just have to pay more or not. Cause one place I read said pit bull owners can spend up to 200,000 dollars a year on insurance. :- But I hope people will start excepting your pit bull more!

Nice story and way to go with saving that pit bull!

And yeah tons of other dogs bite! Just last summer an Australlian sheperd bit my boyfriend. caught him right on the cheek. the doc said if that dog would have bit any harder he would have had to get reconstructive surgery on his face….he almost had holes through his face! not that I own a pit bull, I would love too, but with all the laws, its crazy! those BSL are ridiculous. Like everyone says its the owner(s). Instead of having the laws they should have requirements for any bully breed owner of what you said plus make sure that anyone who owns a bully breed HAS to go to basic training and have their dog tested for aggresion (if you dont already have to do that) and also make the dog go to a class for socialization. Seriously peeople freak out a dog tries to defend itself or freaks out and everyone assumes it needs to die. Its sad! They are animals. We (humans) are also animals, we have to defend ourselves too when we feel threatened. Doesn’t mean we should be put down. People and animals make mistakes. It’s life. I can see dogs that are a big threat to anyone and everything should be put down. Sorry for the long rant. But thats just wrong. I hate how media can take something and twist it so BAD! But thanks for the story hope you will have more
