took in a stray malnurished pit

I have recently took in a beautiful malnurished pit wandering my neighborhood with no collar n a chain around his neck. The dog (we named it rock) its around 4-5 months old. I have always been interested in owning the breed.but after taking Rock in I started researching the breed on the Internet. My biggest n really the only concern I have is I already own a small 10lb Jack Russell that loves all other animals but does get snippy with toys n treats that are his. My wide and I are concerned this may be a huge and potentially fatal problem for the Jack Russell. Are we ignorant or is this really cause for concern. We really need help with this issue. Please help us cause it is going top break our hearts to give rock up.
