I have a Pit who will be 9 months the end of February. He is a GREAT dog – except for when he gets excited. When walking him and he sees antoher dog or person he yanks and whines and barks to no end. I have tried treats (everything from super yummy ones you buy in the store to cut up hot dogs) and regardless of what I have he is NOT interested in the least bit. He is more interested and excited about playing with/meeting another dog or person. I have been working my butt off to try to get him to walk on a loose leash at all times (which he is improving dramatically with) using treats. They work fine for that, but it is when we see another dog or person that he looses control and looses interest in the treats. What other ways is there for me to go about teaching him how to act besides using treats? Thank you ahead of time!

I’m the proud father of a 3 year old Shelter Pit mix, she pulls something awful on her walks, I purchased the halti collar for her, anyone have any tips on getting her accustomed to actually wearing it?

Amber, you could try the Halti Collar which works in much the same way as a bridle for a horse, directing the dog’s head in the direction you want to go, if the dog pulls on the leash, it pulls his/her face down and stops the dog’s pulling, I have one, only having trouble getting our dog used to wearing it.
