We had a pit show up in our yard yesterday. My 8 year old son was outside and the dog walked right up to him and my son started petting him. My wife and I went outside to find this cute little scene, went over to where they were, checked out the dog and was saddened to see that this guy had been severely abused and badly malnourished. Took him to an Emergency Vet Clinic, got him checked out and determined that he was infested with hookworms and ringworms. The vet said he would be dead in 2 weeks if he did not get treatment. I agreed to the treatment.
After the vet visit, we got him some food and a much needed bath. The next day he seems to be doing some better, took him for a walk and played with him, also got him an appointment at my regular vet to get his shots.
This guy broke my heart. I hope we can get him back to normal.
