Chapped dry ears

Our pitty has been getting dry chapped patches on his ears (inside and out) Not anything deep in his ear just on the flap. I put neosporin on his ears but I didn’t want to continue doing that if it’s not gonna help. Any ideas what I should do to heal his ears?

My dog had the same issue in the fall.  We used an ointment as well, the vet mentioned neosporin, i used shoprite brand triple antibiotic ointment.  After the scabs healed I did a couple days of rubbing a baby brand dry skin lotion into the dry spots.  It seemed to work.
