Hi, my girl gets hot spots on her backside and neck. We have tried a grapefruit spray, a supplement that is supposed to stop the itching and something that was natural and smelled like alcohol from petmeds. She is still biting and scratching them. Any remedies anyone knows that will actually work?

    Thanks!

What brand of food are you currently feeding her? If you are feeding a lower quality diet, I would recommend switching to a higher quality, grain free chow. Some good one’s are Blue Buffalo Wilderness, Taste of the Wild and Orijen. I personally feed my pit Zoey Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul. It is not completely grain free, but it does have a lot of high quality ingredients and no nasty byproducts or fillers. Also, it is the most affordable of the high quality dog foods. I know a few people whose dogs have had skin problems (specifically hot spots) which have completely cleared up upon switching to a more high quality food. Let me know if this works for you,

I went to my vet and they recommended a shampo.. also vasoline work in some cases if your dog don’t try to lick it off…I do have a pit bull with dry skin problems and he responded to that great.
