New rescue problems

Submitted by Aponi on Thu, 09/30/2021 - 19:46

We adopted a 2 year old female pit who was an owner surrender. She had been spayed just a few days prior. She was somewhat leash trained and reported to be housebroken. She knew sit and shake and was the unicorn of the shelter as she was okay with cats. She was a breeze the first few days. We developed a feeding and walk schedule. She is only crated for 8 hours while we are at work and was sleeping in a dog bed in our room at night. However it seemed once she got confident walks became intense pulling at all times.

My pup is big brain

My pup Abita is a big brain. But not really. I once was training her to stand next to me while on walks and never wander off. So she followed like I said... but didn't move when a tree was in front of her. It reminds me of World Of Warcraft following mechanics-she kept on moving, and never stopped... even in front of trees. Or she would be chasing my German Shepherd, Nala, and bump her head on a table, then do it again, and again, and so on. big brain abilities.

Pup harassing my other dog

Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 02/06/2013 - 06:32

I have a lab mix and we think she is part pit. She is very loveable but also quite skiddish when it comes to repremand but in other ways she acts as if your repremands didn't even exist. She's very strange. So there is not a lot that she responds well to. She has gotten into the habbit of harassing my other dog who is 5. Roxie, can not eat drink, snack or sleep without Faith (the pup) bothering her. I don't want to kennel Faith all day long but I don't know how to get her to settle down. She responds to her name when she feels like it. I'm so frustrated and I don't know what to do.

Houdini! sorry long but need help desperately

I have a 3 year old pitbull that no matter what we do we cant keep in our backyard during potty and play time. We have a 7ft fence so she was jumping the neighbors fence. We then ran the 7 ft along their fence and she learned to climb the tree by the fence. So my husband cut the trees. Then she chewed through the fencing on the gate and climbed through. We doubled fenced the gate and then most recently she has begun going under the fence! We don't know what else to do.

Hi all!

First post. I became I big fan of Pit Bulls after my daughter rescued a brindle male from a shelter over a year ago.  I was skeptical at first but the more I learned about the breed and the more I saw him and saw how devoted, loyal and loving he is to my daughter I was won over.

He is almost two, smart, knows basic commands, and housebroken.... well that is until recently.
