Hey everyone! It’s getting cold now where I live (upstate New York) and I need to get some outdoor wear for my pit bull puppy (almost 8 months old now) so that his paws don’t crack and he doesn’t get too cold. Does anyone have any brand recommendations? What boots and/or coats work for you?

Also he loves chewing, of course, and I am really worried that any boots I get him are going to be shredded off his feet in no time. Any tips or tricks for putting them on/taking them off/keeping them from getting chewed would be appreciated! I thought I’d try spraying them with bitter apple, but I don’t know how well that’ll last during a walk in the snow.

Hmmm…. Here in Nevada we’ve finally got some snow. I don’t use booties because I’ve never had a dog that would tolerate them. As for winter wear, Dr’s Foster and smith are having some good clearance sales and shipping specials right now. Matter of fact we just ordered Terra this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=20846

I don’t normally like to buy stuff like this without trying it on, but the stuff I’m fining in the pet stores is completely impractical.

Aren’t we supposed to allow them to walk on their paws so that it eventually callous and hardens? The booties didn’t work for my girl either…
