An animal lover was saved by her 1-year-old pit bull, Lilly, this week. Lilly reacted when Dona Timoney, of Beachwood, New Jersey suffered a “medical event” while they walked through a state park. The quick-thinking dog left Timoney still breathing but unconscious and went for help. Once she encountered another walker, Lilly pulled him back to aid Timoney in a true “pay it forward moment.”

B-More Dog, a group of dedicated pit bull owners and advocates, hosted Community Pit Bull Day on Saturday, June 9th at Herring Run Park in Baltimore, Maryland. Guests to the event received free health care for their pit bulls and pit bull-mixes.

Artist Cammeron Batanides of Wilmington, North Carolina showed a kinder, gentler side of pit bulls. She wrote, illustrated and self-published a children’s book about Panda, her 3 1/2 –year-old pit bull, to introduce her companion to readers. According to Batanides, Panda threatens only to lick any passersby.

Sophia Bush, an American actress best known for her role in TV show One Tree Hill, adopted a seven-week old blue pit bull puppy named Griffin.

Scranton, Pennsylvania welcomed a new run/walk 5k on June 9th. Luzerne County Pit Bull Owners 5k Race to Rescue was the first large fundraiser to push towards a grand effort ... a true pit bull sanctuary in eastern, Pennsylvania.
