Assumptions Meet Reality

It’s easy to assume that dogs can eat almost anything. These are pets that have a natural instinct for outdoor survival. This may be true, but puppies are different in a sense because they do not have all the abilities that a full sized dog would possess.

It’s similar to humans and the contrasting differences between adults and babies. The formulated milk that babies process during their infant years pales in comparison to the vast food choices that are available for adults.

Puppies encounter the same road blocks in their early years. They must be cared for properly in order to grow larger. All of this starts with proper food choices. The important thing to know is that puppies require lots of food.

In the early stages a puppy will actually need as much food as an adult dog to ensure proper growth.

Puppy food is different from adult dog food because it contains substances that are higher in protein. Puppy food is also are mixture of all the vitamins and minerals that puppies need in the early stages of growth.

Once this is realized the next stage in puppy care involves picking the best possible food that will make your puppy grown larger.

Home Made Puppy Food

It may be hard to believe, but there are several variations of puppy food. Pet owners have the option of making their own puppy food or choosing from a plethora of retail puppy food distributors.

Homemade dog food involves a preparation of meats and vegetables. The combination should be smoothed out and blended before it is served to your puppy.

These type of meals will aid in grow, but they will have to be supplemented with dog vitamins and bone meals to ensure that your puppy receives the proper calcium and other essentials that are needed for growth.

This is one way to help your puppy grow, but it is obviously a method that appears to be somewhat tedious and time consuming. It requires more money because you are giving your dog human food and you still have to supplement meals with vitamins.

Dog owners may initially think that this is a less expensive way to feed a puppy, but it is actually costs more in the long run.

Dry Puppy Food

If you want your puppy to grow you can implement a process that is much easier. You can go to the store and purchase some dry puppy food. You put it in your vehicle and return home. That’s the extent of the preparation.

This may be a better method for pet owners that are too busy to prepare daily meals for their puppies. Puppies require lots of attention and lots of meals. Those that are unable to prepare the homemade meals several times a day in this manner should seriously consider dry puppy food.

With this food there’s no need to worry about dog vitamins. There are certain dry puppy foods on the market that contain the essential vitamins that puppies need to accelerate growth.

The premium brands will obviously cost more, but for many dog owners the peace of mind that they receive from this is totally worth it.

This type of food is probably the easiest to prepare. This makes it the favorite choices for adults, but it may not be the favorite choice for your puppy.

Dry puppy food can help your puppy grow at a fast rate. If the puppy fails to eat the dry food, however, this will be of no advantage to you or your puppy.

This may be disappointing, but all hope is not lost if this does happen. There are always alternatives.

Canned Dog Food

This is a contrast to dry puppy food because it has to be opened. It is also stored differently and usually purchased in smaller quantities. The cans usually contain various sources of meats that provide nutritional value for puppies that are in a growing stage.

Dogs that partake of canned food have the opportunity to receive the same nutritional value as dogs that are fed dry dog food. The major difference with canned food is that it’s more expensive. This is the primary reason why consumers do not prefer it over dry dog food.

Most consumers would agree that each dog is subject to different tastes. It’s only fair to assume that there will also be some dogs that will not take any interest in canned food either.

At this point dog owners would probably need to try the final alternative which consists of a mixture of the both moist and dry.

Semi-Moist Dog Food

This is the mixture of food for puppies that cannot commit to dry or canned food. It’s a best of both worlds combination that also gives puppies the vitamins that they need for growth.

This type is great because it will allow your dog to receive the benefits of both without losing the vitamins and nutrients that are important for growth.

Comparing Cheaper And Premium Brands

There’s really no comparison between cheaper and premium brands. Buy the premium brands if you want your puppy to grow. The cheaper brands will often use filler ingredients that might save you a couple of dollars, but this ultimately cheats your puppy in the end.

You will spend more with premium brands. That’s no question. You will see this as a good thing because there will also be no question about whether your dog is receiving the best possible nutrients that are needed for growth.

Maintaining Growth

The different types of puppy foods listed above are important elements that establish growth. There are certain variables, however, that you must look for without these foods if you are truly concerned about making your puppy grow larger.

Contrary to popular, belief all dog food is not the same. There are various foods that contain vitamins, but not all foods contain the vitamins that contribute to larger growth.

Pet owners that are seeking dog food that aids in larger growth should look the types that contain animal-based proteins. These are relevant because they promote organ, skin, muscle, and coat growth.

Owners should also be conscious of a controlled calorie amount that will aid in a healthy growth rate. The ingredients should contain fish oils and vitamins that have been scientifically proven to aid in growth. The list of essentials should be rounded out with fiber, phosphorus, and calcium. These elements will aid in digestive and skeletal development.

Applying a schedule of frequent meals with these ingredients will ensure a healthy growth rate for your puppy.
